Henry Bugbee Oral History Project

This collection includes five interviews with details about the professional and personal life of author and philosopher Henry Bugbee (1915-1999). Bugbee was a professor of philosophy at the University of Montana from 1957 to 1977 and is perhaps best known for his book The Inward Morning: A Philosophical Exploration in Journal Form. The interviewees include colleagues, students and his wife, Sally Moore. They provide insight into his teaching style, his writings, his love of nature, and his interactions with others. The interviews were conducted between 2021 and 2024 by Sean Cleary. The original interviews are held as Oral History collection OH 480 at Archives and Special Collections, Mansfield Library, University of Montana-Missoula. Archives and Special Collections also holds the Henry Bugbee Papers (Mss 955).
