Mike Mansfield discusses his first political campaign running for the U.S. House and his fundraising efforts that went along with it. He describes his relationship with Jim “Bim” Rowe, who supported and advised him during his campaigns in Montana. Mansfield also talks about his decision not to run against Burton K. Wheeler, despite Jim Rowe’s encouragement to challenge him. Mansfield recalls his meetings with the Crown Prince of Japan during his time as ambassador and accompanying the Crown Prince on a trip to the United States.
