Description

Watani was originally conceived by the students in the Black Student Union as an alternative to the Montana Kaimin. In 1974, the publication became a yearbook of the organization.

Images captured using a Bookeye® 4 V1A Professional book scanner utilizing a CCD camera, 45,000 pixels (22,500 color and 22,500) with a pixel dimension of 9.3 x 9.3 µm illuminated by white LEDs tested according to IEC 62471 standards. The 600 ppi resolution is paired with a color scan depth of 48 bit color or 16 bit greyscale. Output is either 24 bit color or 8 bit grayscale. The scan capture is controlled through Opus FreeFlow software. File processed to TIFF at 400 ppi for preservation and PDF at 300 dpi for online access using Adobe Bridge and Photoshop version 12.0.3 (CS5). The PDF files were OCR’d with Abbyy FineReader version 9.0.
