Oral Presentation and Poster Guidelines

Oral Presentations

Oral presentation are allotted 15 minutes with an additional five minutes allotted for questions for each presenter. These time limits will be strictly enforced. The presentation schedule will be available for downloading from the 2015 Schedule page.

Each room will be equipped with a PC running PowerPoint and an LCD projector.

Your presentation files should be saved on a flash drive that can be uploaded to the desktop of the PC prior to your presentation session. To keep to our tight schedule, presenters must use the conference PC only (personal laptops are not permitted). Switching computers during the session is not permitted. If you created your presentation on a Mac, make sure that all content will run properly on a PC. This is particularly important for some media files.

We strongly encourage you to arrive to your session ahead of the scheduled start time in order to upload your file and to test that it will work for your presentation. We are hopeful that you will attend the entire session in which you are scheduled to present. Please note that a primary goal of the conference is to expose all of us to work by graduate students that we might not otherwise have the opportunity to see. If you MUST leave after your presentation, we expect that you will do so unobtrusively in a way that does not disrupt the presentation of other participants.

Poster Presentations

Each presenter will be provided with individual space for their poster's display. Poster dimensions should not exceed 36" x 48". We will provide pins to attach your poster to the display board. Any additional pins, Velcro or clips must be provided by the presenter. Please note that staples, glue, paste or nails to attach the poster to the poster board are NOT permitted. In addition, equipment or electricity for use of projection or computer animation involved with a poster presentation will not be provided.

Each poster board area will be numbered and will correspond to the poster numbers listed in the program.

Posters should be hung in the morning of the conference and remain there throughout the day. Presenters must be available to discuss their posters during the afternoon poster session.
