Description
Katie Goidich served in the Navy from 1997 to 2006 on active duty and from 2007 to 2012 in the Navy Reserve. After boot camp and her initial training period she was stationed at Navy Intelligence Operations Center (NIOC) Ft. Gordon, August, Georgia. From there she was sent on deployment to the fleet or to support units in Iraq. During her reserve commitment she was stationed at Navy Reserve NIOC (NR-NIOC) Augusta and NR-NIOC Denver. Both reserve units are designed to support the activities of the active-duty NIOCs during normal operations or "contingency" periods (when it's busier). She deployed twice to Iraq and went out to support fleet operations three times, but most of her career was spent working at her respective home units.
