Abstract / Artist's Statement
Join us for the culminating event of this year's UM Conference on Undergraduate Research (UMCUR), by attending a dinner gathering, plus a film screening and discussion of the award-winning documentary Bring Them Home. After the screening, codirectors Ivy and Ivan MacDonald (Amskapi Piikani/Blackfeet) will share their film production reflections, followed by conversation with audience members. A dinner of squash soup, salad, and cornbread will be served.
About the film (from the Thunderheart Films website): "Bring Them Home tells the story of a small group of Blackfoot people and their mission to establish the first wild buffalo herd on their ancestral territory since the species’ near-extinction a century ago, an act that would restore the land, re-enliven traditional culture and bring much needed healing to their community."
