The Department of Anthropology at the University of Montana is interested in the study of people, both ancient and contemporary, in their biological, archaeological, cultural, and linguistic context. The research and creative scholarship by the faculty aims to understand and appreciate the range of human cultures as well as the significance of biological evolution of the human condition, and includes studies into archaeology, cultural and ethnic diversity, forensic anthropology, linguistics, and medical anthropology.
