This collection consists of selected photographs from the Max S. Baucus Papers, images which span much of Max Baucus’s life. While there are well over 3,000 photographs in the Baucus Papers, the images in this collection were selected to serve as a representative sample. They largely document Baucus’s expansive political career, though some personal images (particularly from his life prior to public service) are also included. Through these photographs, we are afforded a glimpse of life as a member of Congress: legislative duties in Washington, D.C., campaign events and constituent activities back home in Montana, and Congressional delegation trips overseas. These photographs were digitized by Baucus staffers prior to their transfer to the University of Montana, and original file names have been retained.
