The Richard W. Behan Photographs were created by Richard Behan during his tenure as a professor in the School of Forestry at the University of Montana. The images document his participation on the Bolle Committee, which investigated forest management practices in the Bitterroot National Forest and sparked a national controversy leading to the passage of the National Forest Management Act of 1976. He also captured photographs of University of Montana faculty and campus activities.
