Abstract
This article examines regulatory changes enabling tribal organizations to assist Native American veterans with VA claims, addressing longstanding barriers such as geographic isolation, cultural differences, and distrust of federal systems. It underscores the critical need for culturally competent representation and explores how tribes and Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) can collaborate to meet accreditation requirements, provide training, and develop organizational capacity. By leveraging these opportunities, tribal communities can ensure local, accessible, and culturally appropriate advocacy for veterans who have historically served in disproportionately high numbers. The article highlights strategies for forming recognized tribal organizations, engaging law and business programs, and creating educational pipelines to strengthen veteran services and uphold tribal sovereignty.
