Abstract
In this professional portfolio, I will describe how I have worked and endeavored throughout the Master of Social Work (MSW) program to thoughtfully engage, continuously learn, intentionally practice, and achieve mastery in the ten competencies of social work. Additionally, I will provide examples within the narrative and appendices which further demonstrate my proficiency in the four dimensions of social work practice as they relate to the ten competencies. Lastly, Finn & Malloy (2021) describe Advanced Integrated Practitioners as:
Critically reflective, theoretically grounded and able to probe the historical, political, and cultural dimensions of both personal and social ‘problems’ and possible ‘solutions.’ Integrated practice calls for the integration of direct services with skills traditionally associated with community organization, community development, and social change. Fundamentals to an integrated-practice approach is the idea that individuals and society are mutually constituting, simultaneously shaping and influencing one another. (p. 176)
I will conclude my narrative articulating how I learned to engage proactively and intentionally in the five elements of Advanced Integrated Practice daily as the competent practitioner I have become.
