Abstract
This portfolio narrative chronicles my professional and personal development throughout my Master of Social Work (MSW) program, reflecting a journey grounded in Indigenous values, trauma-informed practice, and a commitment to social justice. Rooted in my identity as a Native American woman and informed by my grandmother’s survival of the Indian boarding school system, my practice philosophy emphasizes healing-centered engagement, cultural humility, and systemic advocacy. Through diverse practicum experiences, ranging from managing after-school youth programs to clinical work as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) supporting children on the autism spectrum, I integrated theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice. I applied frameworks such as systems theory, motivational interviewing, and strengths-based practice to navigate ethical complexities, support neurodiverse clients, and address structural inequalities. Critical reflection and supervision were essential to my growth, allowing me to deepen self-awareness and enhance my capacity for relational, anti-oppressive social work. This portfolio demonstrates competency across the ten core domains outlined by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), with emphasis on ethical decision-making, collaborative leadership, culturally responsive care, and policy advocacy. Each section and accompanying appendix illustrates how academic learning, field experience, and personal narrative intersect to shape a practice approach that is relational, justice-driven, and grounded in community knowledge. Ultimately, this portfolio is not just a culmination of my MSW education but a reflection of an ongoing journey; one that honors the resilience of my ancestors, uplifts marginalized voices, and seeks to challenge systems of harm through compassionate and culturally attuned social work practice.
