Abstract

This portfolio documents my development as a Master of Social Work student at the University of Montana and demonstrates my achievement of the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) competencies through integrated coursework and practicum experience. Grounded in an advanced integrated practice framework, this portfolio reflects my emerging professional identity as a rural social worker committed to supporting students and young adults. My practice is informed by systems theory, the strengths perspective, trauma-informed care, and the Just Practice framework, which together guide ethical, culturally responsive, and socially just practice.

Across ten competencies, this portfolio illustrates growth in ethical and professional behavior, social justice advocacy, anti-racist and inclusive practice, research-informed decision-making, policy engagement, and multi-level practice with individuals, groups, organizations, and communities. My practicum experience with Montana 10 (MT10), where I served as an academic coach and contributed to program support and coordination, provided opportunities to apply classroom learning in real-world settings. Coursework artifacts included in the appendices demonstrate competency development through ethics analysis, literature review, program evaluation planning, community intervention, and collaborative teaching projects.

Together, these experiences highlight the integration of knowledge, values, skills, and cognitive and affective processes required for advanced generalist social work practice. This portfolio reflects my readiness to work with rural students and young adults by promoting mental health access, educational success, and equitable opportunities through collaborative, evidence-informed, and socially responsive practice.
