Lt. Col. Benjamin Culver graduated from Oregon State University ROTC Program in 2004 as a Field Artillery Officer and deployed to Iraq in 2006 from Fort Hood, Texas. After his combat deployment in 2008, Lt. Col. Culver worked on Congressional Issues under the fellowship program at the Pentagon, Washington D.C. In 2021, Lt. Col. Culver was board selected by the U.S. Army Joint Central Command to be the director of the University of Montana’s ROTC Program. Lt. Col. Culver discusses taking charge of the “Grizzly Battalion” and “Cadet Cadre” on campus at the University of Montana, Missoula. Lt. Col. Culver describes the many requirements and hardships cadets must go through to graduate and become officers of the U.S. Army. Lt. Col. Culver details the intense education and exciting training that cadets must undergo to become officers of the United States Military. Lt. Col. Culver reminisces over his time improving recruitment, expanding the training and education centers for cadet cadets, and his support and role overseeing the boom crew – shooting the cannon at university sport games – iron man, and best ranger competitions. Lt. Col. Culver shares the impact of ever growing standards for cadets, ensuring that future officers are more than capable enough to meet the growing demands and skill sets as necessary on the modern battlefield.
