John Curtis (JC) Weida discusses his childhood in Deer Lodge, Montana and moving around a lot for his father’s military career. He talks about his time as a student at the University of Montana in the athletic training program and how he became UM’s head athletic trainer. He has been working at the University of Montana for over nearly 30 years. Weida also discusses the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on college sports in Montana and provides other insights into college sports programs in the western United States. Interviewer James Been-Rodriguez was an undergraduate student participating in the Griz Nation Oral History Project as part of the Griz130 History Initiative.
