Description

Adam Bork discusses his upbringing in Bigfork Montana, being active and competitive from a young age. He discusses hard work and development, broken promises at MSU and new beginnings at UM. He reflects on his athletic journey at the University of Montana, where he initially struggled but eventually broke school records in pole vault and decathlon, earning All-American honors. He discusses the importance of self-belief, positivity, and proper mentality in success, while crediting the coaches and fellow athletes that helped shape the person he is. He talks about after college, competing professionally and continuing to train locally, eventually taking over coaching the jumps and multis program at UM. He expressed a deep gratitude for the opportunities and community the university provided for himself and the family he is currently raising in Missoula, and a strong connection to Griz Nation, which continues to inspire him today. Interviewer Sam Tyrrel was an undergraduate student working on the Griz Nation Oral History Project as part of the Griz130 History Initiative.
