This collection includes three interviews on the political career of John Melcher, former United States Senator, Montana State Representative, and mayor of Forsyth, Montana. The interviews were conducted in January 2007 by Donald E. Spritzer. Melcher discusses United States legislation of the late twentieth century, political campaigns, and policies of the Ford and Reagan administrations. He also describes specific bills he was involved in, including the Animal Health Research Bill and the Wilderness Bills. The original interviews are held as Oral History collection OH 411 at Archives and Special Collections, Mansfield Library, University of Montana-Missoula.
