Description
Mike Mansfield recalls his relationships with each of the Presidents who he served under. He talks about being seat mates with John F. Kennedy when they were both in the Senate. He also talks about how his relationship with JFK and Lyndon Johnson led to his appointment as Senate Majority Leader. Mansfield also talks about the influence he had on Presidents Johnson and Nixon’s actions, especially relating to the Vietnam War. He then talks about the ousting of Cambodian President Sihanouk and how Nixon took advantage of it to expand U.S. military operations into Cambodia. Mansfield also talks about some of the legislation that he introduced to reduce forces in Vietnam.
