Description

Hand cut Japanese Stencil used to apply pattern to silk. Cut in persimmon juice impregnated paper. The six sided motif is a stylization of the carapace of the tortoise representing 10,000 years of life. The floral patterns are those of the ubiquitous chrysanthemum flower.
