Description
Hanging calligraphy scroll titled "Up in a Mountain." The calligraphy is mounted on a green brocade with an orange and green border and tan ends. The scroll is weighted by a wooden dowel.
Translation:
Up In a Mountain by Toboku
"Far up into a lonely mountain
Slantingly continued a pebbled path.
A solitary house was faintly visible a long way beneath,
Where the White clouds were incessantly growing.
Alighting from the carriage I was in,
I gazed at a maple grove tinged with an autumn evening.
The crimson foliage, stricken with autumn frost,
Appeared to be redder than flowers blooming in spring."
