Description
Pair of English Staffordshire plates by Crown Ducal issued for the George Washington Bicentenary.
Plate A: "Washington at Valley Forge." Plate A depicts Washington on one knee at his estate at Valley Forge with horses, trees, and other people in the background. Washington is depicted in his uniform with his hat on the ground. Edges of the plate are raised reliefs of florals and fruit in a golden brown color.
Plate B:"Washington at Trenton." Plate B depicts Washington astride a white horse at Trenton. Washington is holding his hat under his arm and a sword in his other hand. Edges of the plate are raised reliefs of florals and fruit in a golden brown color.
Reverse side of plates read: "George Washington Bicentenary Memorial Plates 1732-1932 First in War First in Peace First in the Hearts of His Countrymen, Crown Ducat England."
