Abstract
Since the publication of Curriculum and Evaluation Standards for School Mathematics in 1989 and the Principles and Standards in School Mathematics in 2000, several curricular reform efforts have been undertaken. However, little is known about the instructional impact of mathematics education reform in high school algebra. This talk will present the results of an investigation into algebra reform practices. The primary goal of the study was to examine the effects of teacher beliefs, school-level environment, and classroom goal structure on mathematics education reform practices in high school algebra.
