Description
In a self-recorded reminiscence, Henry (Loble) Keenan shares his thoughts about Mike Mansfield, who Keenan met while studying at the University of Montana (UM) in 1935. Keenan recalls putting together a student club at the request of Mansfield to support his proposed run for Congress. He talks about how deeply impressed he was with Mansfield’s intelligence, views of government, high principles, and high moral ethics. Keenan also recalls seeking Mansfield’s assistance when Mansfield was the Majority Leader in the U.S. Senate. Keenan describes how important it was to Mansfield to ensure that Montana constituents were being well served. Keenan also describes his own life, detailing his years at the University of Montana before transferring to Stanford University, then returning to UM to attend law school. He mentions practicing law in Helena, Montana for 43 years, before spending seven years as a district judge in Helena.
