Daniel Kemmis, a former Mayor of Missoula, Montana discusses how he became the second director of the O’Connor Center for the Rocky Mountain West. He describes his teaching and the Center’s relationship with the University of Montana. Daniel Kemmis then speaks in detail about the Center’s Regional Policy program, including its collaborative work on the Western Charter Project. He speaks about public land management in the West and the Center’s support for local collaborative movements such as the U.S. Forest Service’s experimental Region 7 proposal. Daniel Kemmis then discusses the Center’s non-partisan nature and his retirement in 2007.
