Chloe Maryjean Cat-Sìth recounts their experiences growing up as a closeted queer person in both rural Montana and in the city of Missoula, Montana in the 1990s and early 2000s. They describe finding friends and chosen family in the kink community and how that has come into play with unifying the greater queer community in and around Missoula in 2025. Cat-Síth discusses what it means to live authentically within gender, sexuality, and relationship diversities in a time of heightened political tension under the second Trump administration. The interviewer, River Segar, is earning his Master’s of Social Work at the University of Montana, and is a transgender man.
