Abstract
This report applies to a University Grant Program (UGP) Global Research Incentive Program (GRIP) award. The GRIP was intended to help initiate investigation of river processes, and sediment dynamics in particular, in the context of hydroelectric-dam development in the Magdalena River basin, Colombia. The study area hosts rapid hydroelectric development in a context of high biodiversity, dynamic geomorphology, limited understanding of fluvial processes, and strong coupling between humans and river systems, within recent history of civil war.
