Description
Roberta Evans describes her educational and professional background leading up to her obtaining her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of Nevada. Evans describes the job search process, which she endeavored with her husband at the time, Jerry Evans, and how they navigated the job market together, ultimately ending up at the University of Montana. She discusses her professional rise from Assistant Professor to her culmination as Dean of the Phyllis J. Washington College of Education and Leadership. Evans provides numerous examples of her struggles to find a balance between her work and family life, struggles which she encountered as the first woman hired into the Department of Educational Leadership at Montana, and also how she overcame these challenges. Evans then goes on to describe her own leadership style—agile leadership—and shares her advice to the next generation of women mentors in academia.
