Description
In this interview, Joseph Wagner reflects on his eight years serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served four years of active duty and four years of reserves. Wagner reflects on his basic training experience. His military occupational specialty (MOS) was combat engineering, which involved construction. During his active duty service, he learned about explosives and landmine detection. He reflects on his two combat tours serving in Afghanistan and his head injuries during his first deployment. He talks about his frustrations with the Veterans Administration in trying to get benefits for his disabilities, which included hearing loss and post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. He discusses his post-military education and career, including as a dietitian, a certified personal trainer, and a yoga instructor. Although he was not originally from Montana, he ended up there after his military service and attended the University of Montana.
