Interviewer
Stephen Hayes
Description
In this interview, Gregory Ragan talks about selling wine for Intermountain Distributing as a sales representative. Ragan outlines how his district includes Missoula and the Bitterroot and how he sells wine to retail outlets, restaurants, and bars. When asked about the COVID-19 pandemic and its effect on alcohol sales, Ragan states that wine sales to restaurants declined. Still, wine sales to retail stores increased significantly, possibly due to the governor designating retail stores selling alcohol as essential businesses. Ragan talks about the possible effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on shipping since imported wine can only enter two ports in the United States. Ragan also discusses his certification as a sommelier and how the COVID-19 pandemic limited his ability to share that with clients by canceling wine tastings with his accounts.
