Description
In this interview, Chelsey Elizabeth George discusses moving home over 20 years earlier to assist her father with the family business—George’s Distributing. She talks about changing the company's mission from facilitating food distribution to distributing wine and beer to restaurants. However, their alcohol business suffered because of chain stores such as Costco. George also chronicles how, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Montana restaurant closures caused George’s Distributing to supply alcohol to chain stores—such as Costco, Albertsons, and Safeway. Establishing COVID-19 health and safety protocols for the company to protect staff and customers was also covered, and George talked about getting a PPP loan to prevent layoffs of employees. George talks about how employees used Zoom to conduct internal and customer meetings from home, allowing employees to meet family needs. And finally, George highlights how they will continue establishing new ways to conduct business.
