Description
Our Incentives & Instincts series with economist Bryce Ward continues with a discussion of homelessness in Missoula. Bryce recently published an illuminating report in collaboration with Missoula Economic Partnership that describes the state of homelessness in Missoula, why it’s happening, and what we can do about it. Bryce and Justin are also joined by Jill Bonny, executive director of the Poverello Center, a Missoula non-profit that has been providing emergency shelter and food to those in need for the last 50 years. Their conversation dives into the results of Bryce’s research and Jill’s experience at the Pov, touching on the economic and social costs of homelessness to individuals and the community, the multifaceted reasons that people lose access to housing and the need for stronger social networks and other safety nets.
