Abstract
The lower court found that the defendant breached the contract he entered into with the plaintiff by failing to make monthly payments. The Blackfeet Tribal Appellate Court issued the defendant’s notice of appeal and request for stay of judgment pending appeal. The Blackfeet Tribal Court of Appeals dismissed the appeal filed by the appellant. The appellant made no attempt to contact the Court regarding his appeal since the date of filing of the Notice of Appeal. Per the Blackfeet Law & Order Code reads, “Failure of an appellant to take any step other than the timely filing of a notice of appeal does not affect the validity of the appeal, but is grounds only for such action as the Court of Appeals deems appropriate, which may include dismissal of the appeal.
