Abstract
Can two athletes take down a megacorporation?
Trevor and Benny are washed-up high school basketball stars in Boston, 2050. After a drone films them making an otherworldly alley-oop, a surveillance company, IGLOO, forcefully recruits the two to join their Natural Disaster Response Team, changing their lives forever.
Forced to go around the country, they save people from floods, wildfires, and storms, all while being livestreamed for the rest of the nation to watch. Faced with questions of morality, sexuality, and a search for the truth, the pair unveil secrets about themselves and the company they represent.
Henry Watson’s debut novella is a genre-bending story, blending speculative fiction with elements of eco-horror, adventure, anticapitalistic, and queer themes.
