Description

Virginia DeLand discusses her involvement in the Missoula environmental movement of the 1960s and 1970s. She describes her activities as a member of Gals Against Smog and Pollution (GASP), including her efforts to lead a sustained effort to reduce air pollution emanating from the Hoerner-Waldorf pulp mill in Frenchtown, Montana. DeLand also talks about the role of gender and class in environmental politics and the strategies that GASP used.
