Description
In this interview, Krista Redpath, a former Lady Griz player (1995 - 2000), discusses growing up in Great Falls, Montana at a time when it wasn't easy to play basketball as a girl. She describes her love of the sport, her strategies, going to Robin Selvig’s Lady Griz summer camp, and how she found her way to playing collegiately. Redpath talks about her time at the University of Montana, both academically pursuing her undergraduate and graduate degrees studying Political Science, and as an athlete, suffering two major knee injuries during her time on the team. Redpath describes her process transitioning to playing Professional Basketball in Denmark for a year, and the experiences she gained there and on Lady Griz influenced her as a small business owner and entrepreneur, currently working as a private contractor sports commentator for ESPN. She discusses the impact UM has had on her life and how it continues to influence her and her family, from the way she coaches her kids through their academic and sports interests to the way she juggles and balances such a demanding schedule. Interviewer Arizona Duff was a graduate student working on the Griz Nation Oral History Project as part of the Griz130 History Initiative.
