Description
George “Jiggs” Dahlberg describes the evolution of his athletic coaching career and coming to work in the Athletics Department at the University of Montana-Missoula. He details specific games that he coached, players that he coached, and the various traditions within the Athletics Department and on the University of Montana campus. Dahlberg, reminisces about specific players, field fights, and mishaps that occurred during his time as Athletic Director during the 1940s. He describes the process of out-of-state recruiting, the evolution of the athletic department funds, and athletic equipment that the team’s used. Dahlberg also recalls his best players, his experiences dealing with racism in Billings, Montana, and the administrative changes that he implemented within the University’s Athletics Department.
