Description
Tim Kirkegaard describes his life as a gay man who realized he was gay at age 45. He describes his daily routine in Great Falls and his career as a hairdresser, and discusses stereotypes about hairdressers. He describes how people in his community thought about sexuality when he was growing up in the 60s and 70s. He talks about two girls who went to his junior prom together, and how he was sexually abused by his female babysitter. He then recounts how he realized he was gay in 2005 after he divorced his wife. He discusses the reactions of his children, friends, clients, father, and brothers. He talks about dating men for the first time and becoming friends with a group of younger gay men in Bozeman. He describes what he has learned about LGBTQ history, and recounts two memories related to the AIDS epidemic in Great Falls in the early 1980s. He also discusses being raped by a man in 1988 and his mistreatment by police. He reflects on his current dating life.
