Shawn Swagerty discusses growing up in Havre and moving to Missoula to go the University of Montana. He discusses getting into punk and new wave music, and his involvement in the band Ernst Ernst. He discusses early punk/new bands and venues in Missoula in the early 1980s and key individuals including Lya Badgley, Randy Pepprock and Steve Albini. He also discusses his work as the Fine Arts Editor of Kaimin in the early 1980s. Swagerty tells stories about attending the Battle of Bands as wells as the pranks in which he was involved as a student at the University of Montana.
