Description

Key McCarthy shares about growing up in Montana, coming into their queer identity and their first queer relationship after moving from Helena to Missoula for college in 2017. McCarthy discusses coming out to their family and the revelation of support that they have received as a result. McCarthy talks about their personal growth and challenges in solidifying their identity over the past two years, especially converting their pronouns, considering top surgery, and how much Missoula and its queer communities have been formative to them. McCarthy was interviewed by undergraduate student Kasey Binsted for Dr. Jody Pavilack’s Practicing Oral History class.
