Resolution Encouraging Effective Employee Performance Review Practices
Voted on at the April 12, 2023 meeting of the University of Montana Staff Senate and was sent back to committee. Passed during the May 10, 2023 session.
Staff Senate encouraged UM's HRS to review performance review procedures for current industry best practices and advocated for supervisors to receive training as soon as they take on supervisory responsibilities. Another key point was to encourage mandatory annual evaluations for all employees for improved performance development strategies.
Note; After being passed, the resolution played a role in the proceeding Collective Bargaining Agreement. This resulted in mandatory annual reviews being part of the accepted bargaining package approved (Section 14 of the Collective Bargaining Agreement). See supplemental documents for review.
