Description
Keith Kleinheksel describes his decision to join the U.S. Navy after high school and his Navy Enlisted Classification [NEC] as a fire controlman. He discusses his military service in both active duty and the reserves from 1987 to 2007. Kleinheksel talks about the different deployments which he was sent on which included ports of call in Africa, Vancouver, and many others around the world. He describes his transition from active duty to civilian life, noting that one of the most stressful things was trying to find employment. He recalls the assistance of a friend who helped him get a job, and he talks about his current position with the Department of Defense. Kleinheksel notes that he took advantage of the G.I. Bill to obtain a degree, which also helped with the transition to civilian life.
