In this interview, Christopher Mascari talks about being born and growing up in Terre Haute, Indiana. He discusses enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps in 2008, following his graduation from high school. Mascari recalls attending boot camp on Paris Island, South Carolina, and his service in the Infantry as a machine gunner, earning him a Combat Meritorious award. Mascari mentions his combat deployments, including two in Afghanistan to Marjah in the Helmand Province. At the time of his separation in 2013, Mascari’s rank was Sergeant. Mascari discusses how, after his military service, he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology at Indiana State University and is currently working on a master’s degree in wildlife biology at Clemson University. And finally, Mascara mentions how later on, he and his wife moved to Montana.
