Description
In this interview, Kelly Ferruzzi discusses working for George’s Distributing selling alcohol to restaurants and retail stores in Missoula, Montana, and how they made it through the COVID-19 pandemic. Ferruzzi works mainly with restaurants, supplying them with wine and helping them decide on wine purchases by having wine tastings and assisting them in creating menus. She discusses how, during the pandemic, George’s could sell the more expensive bottles of wine that were only available in restaurants to retail stores since many restaurants were closed. Ferruzzi says that George’s was good to their employees during the pandemic, ensuring they got 80 percent of the pay they had been getting the previous year. Once George’s got a Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan that allowed them to pay their employees 100 percent. Also, staff meetings during the pandemic were held weekly on Zoom, and they also did Zoom alcohol tastings.
